BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
OLD NORTH STATE COUNCIL, CHEROKEE DISTRICT
Introduction to Outdoor
Leader Skills Training, Fall Course
May 12 – 13, 2017
WEBELOS DEN LEADERS
A Boy Scout leader must complete the following training courses in order to achieve the status of a Trained Leader:
Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, work with woods tools, rope skills, plan campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and outdoor ethics. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Boy Scout Handbook to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders.
Please plan to pack your equipment in. Each participant will need to bring his/her own water bottle, mess & utensil kit. We will be staying in the Adirondacks. If you have a backpack stove & compass, please bring.
Bring a copy of your BSA Health & Medical Form – even if you submitted a copy with registration.
