Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training, Fall Course

October 6-8, 2017

A Boy Scout leader must complete the following training courses in order to achieve the status of a Trained Leader:

  • Youth Protection Boy Scout Leader Fast Start—available online
  • Training—available online
  • Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training
  • Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training will be on October 6-8, 2017 at Cherokee Scout Reservation

Instructors will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, work with woods tools, rope skills, plan campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and packing techniques, nature identification, and outdoor ethics. Each outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Boy Scout Handbook to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders.

WHEN:                Friday, October 6th 2017 (arrive 5:30 – 6:00 pm) through Sunday, October 8th 2017 (depart 11:00 am)

WHERE:          Cherokee Scout Reservation 
3296 Boy Scout Road, Yanceyville, N.C.

COST:                 $55.00 (includes program materials and meals)
