WHO MAY ATTEND: Any registered Adult BSA Leader. This course certifies you as an NRA instructor. Your Instructor certification does allow you to take a troop to an approved range and sign off as a merit badge counselor for rifle or shotgun merit badges as long as you register as a BSA Merit Badge Counselor. However, you must also have an NRA Range Safety Officer supervise the range shooting activity with you. You will have the opportunity, at the end of the weekend, to sign-up for the Range Safety Officer course.
NRA PRE-QUALIFICATIONS: To determine your skill set level, a score of at least 80% must be achieved on a pre-qualification practical exercise test prior to completion of the course. This score is not hard to achieve if you have any previous shooting experience.
COURSE OFFERING:
- NRA Basic Instructor Trainer (BIT)- Mandatory for all new trainers – One Time Course (if you've already taken BIT you do not have to take it again, if not you must select both BIT and the Rifle Instructor for a total of $130)
Saturday 7:45 check-in; 8:00-3:00 pm Course: Classroom Instruction
- Muzzleloader Instructor Basic Discipline:
Saturday 2:45 check-in; 3:00-6:00 pm Course Discipline: Classroom Instruction
Sunday 8:30-5:00pm, Course Discipline: Range Practical Exercises and Exam

Price includes meals, ammunition, firearm use and classroom materials. These prices are roughly half of the average being charged by public instructors throughout the region for NRA Instructor Rating certification classes. Participants will be housed in camp tents, if needed, on Saturday night.
Prices do not include NRA membership fees or fees associated with each discipline to be an instructor.
The fees due to the NRA to be registered as an instructor are your financial responsibility. You must pay these fees in order to teach as an NRA Instructor. Upon completion of your course, you will be directed to pay online directly to the NRA.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: (Registration Closed two weeks before class – Min 5 students, Max 14 Students)
The registration deadline is established to allow us ample time for supplies to arrive. Please contact us with any questions you may have regarding the course. Payment is due with registration. Training Guide will be sent via email to all registered participants when the class count is confirmed. Training Guide will include course syllabus, weekend schedule, food arrangements etc.
