2018 Summer Camp

  • Save the date!  Plan to attend the Summer Camp Kick-off Event being held February 17, 2018 at the Council Service Center.  Learn about all of the exciting Summer Camp programs Old North State Council will be offering this summer, including the NEW Cub Scout resident camp opportunity for Wolves and Bears.  Cub Scout  and Webelos Scout programs will be discussed in the morning. Boy Scout summer camp programs will be featured in the afternoon. More details to follow!

  • The Camp Physicals Clinic will be held Saturday, April 28.  The Old North State Council offers physicals for anyone planning to attend resident camp for the upcoming summer season or for high adventure trips, such as Philmont, Northern Tier, or others.  The clinic is held at Merritt Medical Plaza on Westover Terrace in Greensboro, cost is $25. Click here for details and to register.

  • New requirement for 2018:  Any adult accompanying a Boy Scout troop to a residence camp or other Scouting activity lasting 72 hours or more must be registered as a leader, including completion of a Criminal Background Check and Youth Protection Training, even if they are the parent of a youth on the trip.
Please Note: Although YPT is strongly encouraged for adults attending any overnight activity, at this time, the requirement applies only to individual adults staying three or more nights at a resident camp.  As a reminder, all adult applications must be signed and approved by the Chartered Representative and the Committee Chairman.

Scout Sunday

Although it feels like 2018 just started (since it just did), February is only a few weeks away, which means Scout Sunday is just around the corner!

When: February 4, 2018

Why: Scout Sunday always falls on the Sunday before February 8—the anniversary of the BSA!

While Scout Sunday is officially on the calendar for February 4, charter organizations are encouraged to celebrate on whichever Sunday works best, such as the United Methodist Church, who will celebrate Scout Sunday 2018 on February 11. Be sure to check with your charter organization to find out when to celebrate.

 Scout Night with the SWARM

Scout Family Fun Night with the Swarm! Friday, January 19, come watch Greensboro’s newest professional sports team and get a SWARM PATCH! The NBA G-League Greensboro Swarm takes on the Toronto 905 at the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse. Tipoff is 7 pm and your whole family will enjoy being on top of the action with no seat more than twelve rows from the floor. Group seating is available for units to participate in viewing the exciting rematch between the Swarm and 905 from their December tilt. In December’s match the Swarm came from 11 down in the fourth quarter to defeat the 905 in overtime 107-106. This return game should be exciting.

If your unit is not making this a winter activity families may still take advantage of the group tickets and join in the fun. A commemorative patch will be given to all that purchase tickets using the order form: http://www.bsaonsc.org/documents/2018swarm.pdf or by calling Brandon Rothfuss with the Swarm at 336-907-3607.
