Old North State Council Nominating Committee Convening

The Nominating Committee is seeking recommendations for Executive Board members from our Scouting constituents. Please reference “The 10 Basic Responsibilities of Executive Board Members” when considering potential candidates to be recommended for Executive Board membership. To recommend a person for consideration to serve on the 2021 Executive Board, email the person’s name, complete contact information, and a one-page summary of qualifications to Scout Executive Ed Martin at ed.martin@scouting.org . All candidates will be shared with the Nominating Committee for review.

To protect the annual nominating committee process and avoid potential embarrassment for any nominee, please do not approach nominees regarding service on the ONSC Executive Board until after all are reviewed by the Nominating Committee. Selected nominees will be contacted individually and asked to serve a one-year term on the Executive Board in 2021. All nominations must be received by Ed Martin no later than 5:00 PM EST on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

The Boy Scouts of America, acting through the National Court of Honor, award the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to youth.
The Award is made for noteworthy service of exceptional character to youth by registered Scout Volunteers within the territory under the jurisdiction of the North Florida Council, BSA.

Nominees are considered based on their noteworthy service to youth, service to Scouting, and service to their community business, professional, educational, fraternal, veteran, rural, religious, and civic organizations exclusive to Scouting.

Nominations are due to the Scout Office by January 15, 2021

ONSC Communications Changes Coming Soon

Communicating unit, district and council information is one of our most important tasks made more challenging by rapidly changing technology.

We will soon be unveiling new ways to transmit information faster and across multiple platforms (text, email, etc). The site www.bsaonsc.org will have a different look - and be more static. Information that changes frequently will be transmitted by a progressive web application that, while new to all of us, will be very intuitive and easy to use.

How will this affect you?

OA Fall Update

We are pleased to announce a series of updates to our Fall schedule, designed to follow COVID-19 mitigation procedures while also providing a meaningful and exciting experience for all members and candidates of Tsoiotsi Tsogalii Lodge 70!

As always you can reach the lodge leadership at lodge70@lodge70.org with any questions.

OA Virtual Induction December 4-5

Due to attendance limitations for our in-person Inductions weekend at Cherokee Scout Reservation, this year we are offering a virtual option for Induction into the Order of the Arrow.

This event will take place December 4-5, beginning around 8:00 pm Friday night and concluding around 8:00 pm Saturday night. The format will be a combination of pre-recorded videos and live videoconferencing with Lodge Leadership, Elangomats, and other candidates participating in virtual inductions.

For the service component, candidates can choose to be part of an organized small group service project (still in keeping with COVID-19 mitigation strategies) or to organize their own project. To see more information and to register, visit our website

Donate to Scouting today

With the inability to conduct regular fundraising due to COVID-19, your investment to continue to deliver life-changing programs to more than 4,400 Scouting youth in the Triad is needed more than ever!

If you haven’t had an opportunity to participate in “Friends of Scouting” this year at your Pack, Troop, Crew, or Sea Scouts meeting, please take a moment to do so now.
Your generosity supports a Scouting program of the HIGHEST caliber.

State of North Carolina COVID-19 updates

October 1 update: Entering the Coronavirus Phase Three Plan does not affect Scout gatherings or events. Current measures still apply.

As of September 4, North Carolina COVID-19 prevention guidelines permit mass gatherings of 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors. Here is the BSA's latest guidance for COVID prevention measures for a variety of activities including advancement. The Eagle Scout Extension Process that gives councils the authority to grant an additional three-month extension has been moved to December 31st, 2020.
Also included is a link to the Restarting Scouting checklist.

Click here for a list of other practical preventative measures we have assembled from national panel discussions.

The Scouting App is a Parent's Portal to Scoutbook

Scoutbook is a powerful tool that helps unit leaders take care of the administrative tasks of running a unit. These tools are amplified when your parents download the Scouting App.

The Scouting App is for parents to access the things they need in Scoutbook in an environment that is customized and easy to navigate. Provides direct communication and even payment options.

Search "Scouting" in the Apple Store or Google Play.
