Ranger Marvin Preslar Retirement Celebration

Saturday, March 13  1:00 pm

The Old North State Council and Cherokee Scout Reservation will host a reception to celebrate Camp Ranger Marvin Preslar’s retirement

The reception will be held at the ATV program area at Cherokee Scout Reservation

A memory book and video are being assembled. 
If you wish to send Marvin a letter or card, please send to Bud Harrelson’s attention at  bud.harrelson@scouting.org or 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408 by Friday, March 5

Friends, family, and fellow Scouters wishing to make a donation to Cherokee Scout Reservation in honor of Marvin may do so using the reservation link.

Bill Goebel Receives Silver Antelope

Awarded by Southern Region Selection Committee



Congratulations to ONSC's own Bill Goebel for receiving the highest BSA Southern Region honor that can be bestowed on an adult volunteer. He was one of only eight recipients selected from councils in 13 states.

Created in 1942, the Silver Antelope is awarded to those persons who give extraordinary leadership in distinguished service to youth. This award recognizes registered Scouters for their noteworthy service of exceptional character provided within the region’s territory.

Bill has held many leadership positions in the Old North State Council and is currently the president of the Southern Region Area 7. Congratulations Bill!


 

Introduction to Leadership Skills For Crews

Saturday, March 27   Shiloh UMC  Lexington

The Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews (ILSC) course was created to help Venturers learn and practice the attitudes and skills effective leaders demonstrate. Practicing and mastering these skills within the crew will provide Venturers with positive leadership experiences in and outside of the crew.
This course consists of a series of lessons divided into three modules: Leading Self, Leading Others, and Leading Crews.

Financial Assistance for BSA Members in 2021

Thanks to continued support from generous donors, funding to support local families in need is still available. It is provided to any families to help with the increased membership fees for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing youth members as well as registered adult leaders.

All Camps are Open!
Please follow applicable state guidelines for outdoor gatherings and overnight camping

  • Cherokee, Woodfield, Hagan, and Hemric are open for weekend camping for groups of 50 or less

  • Scouts BSA troop members and Venturers only at Hemric due to BSA safety regulations

  • Make reservations online as before

  • More than one group can be present at the same time at Cherokee and Woodfield if reserving separate activity areas. However, Hagan and Hemric can only support one group at a time
