SUMMER FAMILY ENCAMPMENT is an excellent opportunity for your entire family to spend a special weekend together enjoying the outdoors in a camp setting. It’s a time to get to know each other in more meaningful ways through outdoor activities that Scouting provides. It is a chance to Blast Off to Fun as you explore science and discover the out of this world fun.

Who can Come: This event is for Scouting families.  Each Scout must be joined by at least one parent.  Siblings, young and old, are welcome to join as well.  Note that there will be a fair amount of walking during the weekend and the camp does not provide or permit motorized transportation within camp unless there is a documented disability.

When & Where: This year’s event will be July 17-19, 2020 located at Camp Woodfield (491 Woodfield Scout Trail, Asheboro NC 27203). Families may check in on Friday July 17 starting at 5:00 pm. Directions are provided at www.bsaonsc.org/woodfield.html

Check-In: Each family will be required to check-in at the HQ building before entering camp. If you wish to camp on Friday, check-in will start at 5:00 pm and end at 9:00 pm. If you wish to come on Saturday morning, check-in will be from 7:00 - 8:45 am. Scouts and their parents will be assigned a campsite at check-in. There will be a volunteer at your campsite to help with your campsite setup.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, & supper will be provided on Saturday. Breakfast on Sunday will also be included. If

you are camping on Friday evening, you will need to make plans for an in-town supper or in campsite meal. If

you have any specific food allergies, please plan to bring your own food. We will not be able to accommodate specific food orders. Meal schedule will be included in a welcome letter that will be sent one week prior to event.

Lodging: Your family will need to provide tents for your family. We recommend you work with your cubmaster to loan you a tent if you do not currently own one. Note: when staying in tents, no youth will stay in the tent of an adult other than his own parent or legal guardian. No exceptions. Access to running water in bathrooms & showers will be available.

Activities: Throughout the day, scouts and parents will participate in archery, bb shooting, STEM activities, crafts, games, skits and a Saturday night campfire. If you wish to fish during free time, the pond will be open.  You will need to provide your own equipment and bait.  A fishing license is NOT required for fishing in the fishing pond. All events are designed for family participation. We will have volunteers at each program area, but they are there to facilitate only and not to watch the scouts. Enjoy your time with your family and help make this event special for you and them.

Health Forms: A current BSA Annual Health & Medical form Parts A&B are REQUIRED for all parents & scouts that are in camp. Current health forms can be found online at www.bsaonsc.org, then Scouting resources, then scouting forms. This is the ONLY version accepted.
