Wilderness First Aid (WFA) includes the practical application of knowledge and skills through classroom participation, group activities and scenarios.

WFA is especially recommended for those planning and participating in activities where advanced medical care is delayed, or for backcountry or high adventure activities.

It is appropriate for Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, and Sea Scout unit activities as well as high adventure activities where “definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.”

WFA is open to adult volunteers and youth members age 14 or older.  Youth members must submit the UNIT LEADER’S YOUTH APPLICANT APPROVALForm, signed by their unit leader, with the Registration Form.  Youth Protection guidelines must be adhered to.  Co-ed groups and youth 14-18 years of age are welcome, but youth must attend with a buddy or appropriate adult partner/leadership.  Female leadership for co-ed participants is the responsibility of the Scout, the Scout’s parents, and /or unit leadership.  For questions, contact Nita Grubbs at 336.378.9166 or nita.grubbs@scouting.org.
