Financial Assistance Expanded for BSA Members in 2020!

As shared in previous newsletters, Old North State Council is excited to offer funding to support local families in need beginning with the Jan. 1, 2020 BSA national membership renewal/recharter cycle.  The following plan is provided to any families that need assistance with the increased membership fees for Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, and Venturing youth members as well as registered adult leaders.

Additionally, some registered Scouting families who have certain healthcare plans may be eligible for financial assistance.  The benefits vary by plan and are still being developed by the healthcare companies.Initial inquiries have resulted in minimal details. More information is expected in December 2019.

We will continue to update the page as opportunities arise, but we encourage you to visit and share this as a resource when asked about BSA’s youth protection efforts.
Guide to Safe Scouting News The HTML version of the Guide to Safe Scouting has been updated. The effective date of the changes is October 1, 2019 giving you time to communicate the changes to your Scouting families. A pdf version of the current guide dated January 2019 is available now.

Mom & Me 2020 Planning Meeting

Have you ever been to a Mom & Me camping event?

Ever wanted to help with planning activities for 2020?

Our 1^st planning meeting for Mom & Me 2020 is at 1:00pm on November 16^th, at the Old North State Council office. At this meeting we will discuss ideas for crafts, activities, plan ways for continuous improvement and start recruiting volunteers to help as campsite hosts, activity leaders, and other areas that we will need help with.

Even if you just plan to attend Mom & Me, we encourage you to attend this meeting. We want your input and advice as well.

Eagle Scout College Scholarships

Each year, the National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) awards about 200 college scholarships to Eagle Scouts. The application process is online only, and applications may be accessed here. The application period is August 1st to October 31st. Scholarships range from $1000 to $50,000. Please share this information with deserving Eagle Scouts from your troop who are headed off for college in 2020.
